Culture always starts with a tradition and in fact, although not in the sense in which we understand it today, it is a very ancient item of clothing in men’s fashion. The shirts are born as a light linen dress to be worn strictly hidden under a very long tunic.
But why was the shirt used? Well… all starts in the Roman period during the common bath between a man and a woman and the need to protect the naked body from the garments of heavy fabric (men’s clothes) and to form a barrier against poorly cleaned epidermis. Until 1900 the shirt was strictly detached from the cuffs and collar. The collar of the shirt was originally vertical and short enough to sew over the buttons that held the collar. The collar was also called “pistagna” , now known as a Korean collar.
Around 1860 the first colored shirts began to appear. In the second half of the century, they began to use shirts for sports, they wore soft collars and attached to it, the sports shirt could also be worn without wearing the jacket and the fabric was jeans or flannel.

Jahrhunderts wurde das Hemd zu einem Statussymbol, wodurch die Aristokratie von den Plebs untersscheiden koennten, die diese lange Tunika als eiziges Kleidungsstück trugen .Die Bedeutung des Hemdes wuchs in der Herrenbekleidung im Barock, als die Krawatte erfunden wurde. Aufmerksamkeit wurde auch dem Hals und denHandgelenke gewidmet.
Bis 1900 war das Hemd strikt von den Manschetten und dem Kragen gelöst. Der Hals des Hemdes war ursprünglich senkrecht und kurz genug, um die Knöpfe am Kragen zu nähen. Der Kragen wurde auch Pistagna (Paspel) genannt, jetzt als koreanischer Kragen bekanntUm 1860 tauchten die ersten farbigen Hemden auf. In der zweiten Hälfte des Jahrhunderts begannen sie auch, Sporthemden zu verwenden. Diese trugen weiche Kragen und waren daran befestigt.
